Long ago, a Dreamwalker tried to establish a monotheistic religion from his own realm. A religion that went against the Pantheon and denied their very existence in a time where they become reclusive. They were not as seen as often and no one knew why.
For awhile, this religion became rather popular with the local populace having believed the Pantheon had abandoned them. They needed something to believe in. To fill the void in their hearts as they forgot the old ways.
The Cathedral that would become known as The Vortex was one of many that sprung up on Eden and one of the most grand. After the Dreamwalker returned to his own realm, having died an old man, the religion fell out of favor as the Pantheon started making themselves known again. The Cathedrals fell into disrepair and ruin.
Save one.
The Vortex Cathedral is a den of Madness as it houses Oneiroi and his Consort, Lyssa. Their daughter, Eris, also dwells here but she is often found about in Eden. The Cathedral reflects its Lords' mind. It is constantly shifting. The very architecture plays tricks with your mind. You cannot be one hundred percent sure of where you are. You may very well become trapped and become a victim of Oneiroi's madness just as others before you have.
Inside the Cathedral you feel a sense that you are not alone. You see things out of the corner of your eye. You being to doubt your senses. You doubt the very walls around you, the floor beneath your feet, and the ceiling above your head.
Oneiroi's lair is at the heart of the maze he's made of the Cathedral. Lyssa resides separately from him as does Eris. He does not mind this arrangement. He is more than content to watch the going-ons of Eden in his crystal balls. No one disturbs him and that is how he likes it.
